"Where beading artists meet to show and tell."
I make tons of jewelry and have sold some pieces and in the past have had some pieces in shops. But I truly never feel like my stuff is up to the standards of other artist. Do you go through this and How do you deal with it...I am making tons of jewelry and it is just piling up around me...lol

I can relate to what you are saying. I have done similar to you, made stuff and sold some things and also given some things as presents. Funny enough I even look at your stuff and feel that my work isn't good enough. LOL
I think the thing is to be inspired by the other artists and not feel intimidated by them. We just have to develop our owen style and be happy with it.
Maybe we need to challenge ourselves. My problem is I always make excuses about why I can't do something and Jeff tells me that it is not true and he is right.
I hope this helps make you feel that you are not the only one and that it keeps you going with your clay work and beading.

I would like to suggest that you not compare your work to another artist's work, for starters. I have been beading for close to 40 years, and like you, have had my work in galleries and boutiques. Over the years and with some regularity I have doubts about my abilities and skills and tell myself that I'm a fake, etc., etc., etc., All artists go through this at least once in a while. If you love what you're doing and doing what you love, that is enough. Good luck to you and keep on beading!

I have realized in my short time of beading and jewelry making that I can't compare myself with other artists. My designs are mine and their designs are theirs. I do like to see what others are making.

Hmm I have a box full of things I have made, and even though I like some of them, they are not all to my taste, but other people like them, so I guess the thing to do is not to compare yourself with other people.
A lot of the time when I look at other peoples work, I think that my work is not up to scratch and I do think it is reasonably normal as this is what we do with other aspects of our life.
Unless we are truly happy with everything in life, we will continue to do this. So just be happy that what you are doing pleases you.
That is the key.

On the whole, do what pleases you. Sometimes we have to make things that we know will please others, even though it's "not our style", just to make a variety that will sell. Sometimes I make things that please me, thinking no one else will like it, and people do. Sometimes I make things that I'm not especially enamored with and other people really like it. In the end, we have to stay true to ourselves and not compare ourselves to anyone else, because they don't see our dreams or have our visions. Keep doing what you love.
