CHOCOLATE AMMONITE FOSSIL: Bead Embroidered Necklace

"This is wonderful!  I too have used ammonites in a necklace but rather than embroidery I created a bezel around each ammonite.  Kudos to you!!"

"Sometimes going through the beads with double thread (whatever your choice) helps create a stiff piece.  I have also heard of using floor glue. "

Profile Information

What is your favorite beading activity? Surely you can separate one:)
I love working in freeform peyote stitch. I enjoy learning new stitches--brick stitch, right angle weave, herringbone--but always return to freeform peyote.
Other beading activities you enjoy or want to learn about?
Not only do I enjoy beading collars and other smaller pieces of jewelry but also beading around bottles of various sizes. Next to creating a collar I love wearing my works of arts.
What do you consider to be your areas of skill? This will help members search. Check as many as you wish.

About Me:
I have worked with my hands since I was a child, when I learned embroidery and crochet. I taught myself knitting and bead weaving. I do a lot of sewing, including clothes, costumes, and soft goods for the home (drapes, bedding, etc.) I can't imagine life without creating with my hands!

We are so glad you have joined the Beaders Showcase. Take a look around the site and you will find several areas of interest. Members here are always interested in pictures of your work. If you don't know how to photograph your jewelry, you will find conversations in the forum (Discussions) on how do set up an inexpensive photo studio.

There's also different groups that you can join to help you with what ever you are currently interested in. For instance, if you're currently interested in bead embroidery, there is a group for that. If you have a specific question on how to do something in bead embroidery, feel free to start a thread in discussions.

If you're interested in learning how to do something new, let's say the Cellini spiral, check out videos because there may be one there to help you learn how to do that. I know for sure there's one on the Cellini spiral because it was the first video uploaded and it's mine.

If you find someone whose work you really like, be bold and ask them to accept you as a friend. I will be sending you an invitation as Gail Devoid to become my friend and you can check that out. Generally, you will find that beaders are a very friendly group.

There's also blog posts here. These are searchable. If you search for Gail Devoid, Mona Hair's entries for the show we co-host will show. If you are interested in bead embroidery and search on that term, any blog entry that mentions this will display.
